GDP network solutions, the transport network for pharmaceuticals and healthcare products in the ambient sector, looks back on a successful first business year. Right from the start, the considerable investments made by the ten shareholders have paid off in the market. The excellent performance is underlined by valid data. Currently, the pharmaceutical network is preparing to expand into the D-A-CH region. "We have managed to achieve the goals we set ourselves, despite difficult conditions during the pandemic," says Jürgen Oetzel, managing director of GDP network solutions GmbH. The focus is primarily on GDP conformity in the areas of temperature control, documentation and quality assurance. The result is impressive: The network achieves a delivery reliability of 99.3 per cent and at the same time has a vanishingly low damage rate of 0.003 per cent. "We were able to keep the quality promise to our customers in full," Oetzel comments on these outstanding values.
Behind this is an intelligent IT system with software specially developed for GDP network solutions, which the partner companies have implemented. A control tower provides all relevant data in real time, including reports and a possible activation of 24/7 emergency management. Comprehensive quality management (QM) is one of the essentials of GDP-compliant pharmaceutical logistics. The installation of a central QM for the network also includes the permanent training of employees in the participating companies. Jürgen Oetzel describes the network structure of medium-sized specialists in pharmaceutical logistics as an essential criterion for the success of GDP network solutions. According to Oetzel, these companies are not only at the top of the customer rankings for storage and distribution, but as outsourcing partners they also offer a wide range of value-added services. With this unique selling point, the network can design customised, individual solutions for each customer.
The core issues of quality and safety are inextricably linked in pharmaceutical logistics. The high relevance of security aspects applies across all sectors: from the transport of sensitive goods to data security across all interfaces. In order to adequately represent this priority, GDP network solutions has complemented its logo. The claim "to be sure" is a clear statement of the company's commitment to the highest security standards at every stage of the supply chain.
One year after the successful launch as an alternative in the German market, GDP network solutions is working on expansion in Europe. Currently, intensive talks are taking place with potential partners in Austria. With further cooperations, the D-A-CH region will first be opened up with pharmaceutical know-how, in order to then advance the presence in other countries.
